The Banana Slug: A Stitched Ode to Oregon

These banana slugs are a special project born from a trip to Minneapolis, where I stumbled upon a sweet fabric store called Lakes Makerie. They had silly patchwork slug pincushions all around the shop, and a free pattern on their website. I loved the idea so much that I came home and altered the pattern to make it my own—I made them bigger, added a dart for extra juiciness, and embroidered spots instead of stripes to give them their own personality.

A note on the pattern: My slugs were inspired by this free tutorial from Lakes Makerie. You can find the original blog post (and great fabric) here: Sew Your Own Lakes Makerie Slug.
