Strawberry Garden Patch Quilt
Growing up, my family had a massive strawberry patch; I tended to it with my dad while gobbling up as many as we foraged for baking. This plot of land always brought me joy and comfort amid the hecticness of growing up. The strawberry has since become a sort of talisman for me, offering comfort and a reminder of the sweet things in life during hard times. I wanted to manifest this comfort in cloth and texture and found inspiration in Civil War era appliqué compositions. This piece is a nod to old and new handwork, celebrating the stitch and amplifying texture.
